Arriving soon! (Beira)

Hi everyone,
I'm french and currently living in Burkina Faso; My husband is being transferred to Beira and we should be there by the end of the month.
I'd like to have some info/advices on the city: for exemple the area where to live in, if there are shops selling furnitures or if it's better to buy them before coming, hotels where to stay while hanging around looking for a house etc
I will also be looking for a job, is it difficult to get a work permit? Do you need one to work with a local contracts or is that only for expats?
Any tips on the city or life in Mozambique would be appreciated,
