Freelance Journalist En Route to Iraq (Beirut)
I'm an American citizen journalist who will be traveling back to Iraq this August. I first visited Iraq 5 weeks before the US-led invasion and again a few months later, and have written extensively about the impacts of the war on average Iraqis. I'm now writing a book about my experiences.
I am looking for a guest house or a housesit in Beirut that I can use as a base to travel back and forth to Baghdad. I'm 52, an experienced housesitter, respectful and low-impact, and I have a little bit of a budget. Because I'll be doing interviews via Skype back to the States late at night, I wouldn't make a good house guest or flat mate. I'm looking for something that would provide a bit more independence and privacy.
I'll be traveling to Beirut around July 18 and leaving around Sept 2; my dates are flexible depending on housing. I'll be coming from London where I will have participated in Hostile Environment Training for reporters.
Any ideas? I really appreciate your help!
Thank you for your time and consideration!
