Nia Dance -Workshop for a Cause (Beirut)

Introduction to Nia® Technique- Workshop for a Cause

[A benefit for those devastated by TYPHOON Haiyan in the Philippines]

Welcome to Nia- a sensory based movement practice! Optimize your health. Sense your body. Dance your spirit.
Experience self-healing and self-expression.

This 2-hour workhop/class is designed for those who are new to Nia. The first hour is a no-music practice. We will explore some of the 52 moves of Nia, designed to experience the five sensations (flexibility, agility, mobility, strength and stability). As well we will cover the 5 Stages of Self-Healing. The second hour is about music and the joy of movement. We dance a full Nia class using The Body's Way with pleasure!

Please wear clothing that allows you to move freely; we will be moving in our barefeet. Remember to bring water and towel :)

Who is this for? EVERY BODY regardless of fitness and age levels- as long as you can move, you can dance!

What is Nia® Technique?

Nia: Now I Am (or Neuromuscular Integrative Action)

A dynamic blend of dance arts, martial arts and healing arts. Balancing technical precision with free-form expression, Nia brings the body, mind, emotions and spirit to optimum health through music, movement and self-expression, guided by the sensation of Pleasure.

Nia is designed for every body. It is ageless and limitless, transformational and effective for every person everywhere. Through Nia practice, you learn to foster awareness of your life through physical sensation, allowing the Voice of The Body to direct your actions and choices. Practiced barefoot to music, each person is invited to move at his or her own level of intensity, adapting the 52 Moves to their body potential at any given moment. While delivering cardiovascular, whole-body conditioning, Nia® creates a loving relationship with one's own body by tuning into The Body’s Way: the innate intelligence of the body. Why “Nia for a Cause”?

After hearing my friends’ stories of how their houses have been destroyed by Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines and how their families have been evacuated, I felt moved to do something about it. I am offering Nia workshops to benefit typhoon relief aid. All proceeds will go to those affected both here in Lebanon and in the Philippines. Your participation is an inspiration to being present. This is an invitation to give what you wish from the heart.

Come and let the spirit move you.
With love & gratitude.

~Junaline
