Meeting Expats Living in Bergamo

Known as “La Città die Mille”, Bergamo lies at the foot of the Alps divided into two distinct sections: the Alta (upper) and the Bassa (lower) areas. The two halves are connected by a funicular railway, steep footpaths and a road. Much of the older, medieval city is furthermore enclosed by seventeenth century walls, whilst the more modern portion contains the shopping and main housing areas. Bergamo is a manufacturing and banking city, with national and multinational employers. Expatriates living in Bergamo may register with InterNations to become part of a global expat community. InterNations offers its members the chance to socialize with other expats and even organize get-togethers, from tours of the medieval Citta Alta and its Santa Maria Maggiore Church, built on seventh century foundations, to walking and skiing in the mountains above Bergamo, or watching Atalanta play soccer in Serie A. Bergamo also boasts a successful American Football team, the Bergamo Lions for the North American members to enjoy in particular.
