Hommage to Astor Piazzolla at Berlin Philharmonie

20 years after the death of Astor Piazzolla, celebrated Greek pianist and Piazzolla specialist Konstantinos Athanasakos presents his Hommage to the great master who revolutionised Tango music and made it part of the classical and jazz tradition.

Since his first Piazzolla concerts in Protected content the USA and Paris, Mr. Athanasakos has earned accolades from audiences, critics and colleagues alike, described as 'a pianist of deep culutre, intensity, imagination and communicative power', as 'what would result if James Bond and Piazzolla had raised a child together' and 'an artist who has justifiably earned such adoration and respect' to name just a few. Many prizes and concerts followed, dedicated to the mainstream classical repertoire as well as to avantgarde 12-tone music.

This year, Mr. Athanasakos turns once more his attention to Piazzolla, at the invitation of Polish violinist Maria Ossowska (who will also showcase her skills in several pieces), along with another great colleague and friend, French cellist Damien Ventula, especially invited for a riveting performance of Le Grand Tango.

The concert, which will take place at the Kammermusiksaal of the Berlin Philharmonie on April 18 at 20:00, is presented under the auspices of the Embassy of Argentina.
