Relocation Decision - Munich or Berlin?

Hello all. I'm a brand new member seeking some advice. My USA employer is offering a 2-year expat assignment in Deutschland, and letting me choose the destination city. My husband and I have narrowed it down to two: Munich or Berlin. We are seeking feedback from you on which city might fit us best and why. Here are some stats: we are a middle-aged gay married couple; no kids; we have lived for 20 years in and around New York City; this will be our first expat experience; I work in IT consulting, my husband is an independent documentary filmmaker; I will be traveling a lot to various European cities; we like the arts (theatre, film, music) and are somewhat outdoorsy; we are inquisitive and open-minded, spiritual but not religious, and lean left politically.
