TEDxLilongwe is a volunteer run, nonprofit, ideas event that brings the internationally recognised TED brand to the Malawi’s capital for an independently organised TEDx event. Protected content be TEDxLilongwe’s second year.

TEDxLilongwe brings ideas, theatre, thinkers, innovators and enjoyment to the region with some of the country’s most interesting presenters taking the stage to deliver their “ideas worth spreading”.

Saturday 15 November, 8:00am to 4:00pm
TEDxLilongwe Protected content @ Blantyre will be held at the Blantyre Polytechnic, Chichiri Campus in the Unicef Innovation Hub.

The theme is 50:50. With 50 years since independence, ideas that will shape the next 50 years.

The simulcast will live stream the TEDxLilongwe event, so you can catch all the action from the speakers such as:
Fulbright Fellow, lawyer and activist Habiba Osman, University of Malawi lecturer and Laureate of IBC TOP Protected content
Dr. Chomora Mikeka, author, filmmaker, and new media strategist
Michael Mutisunge Phoya, onebillion co-founder
Jamie Stuart, and physician and Partners in Hope co-founder
Dr Perry Jansen.

Tickets are available from Ameca Café (inside Beit Cure Hospital premises) at MK4,000.00 which includes entrance to the live stream event, lunch and refreshments! Get your tickets as soon as possible and don’t miss out!

What is TEDx?
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is called TEDxLilongwe, where x = independently organized TED event. At our TEDxLilongwe event, TEDTalks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organised.
