Cancelling a lease early (Bogotá)

Hi everyone,

I have a twelve month lease on an apartment here and I'm considering terminating it early. I've read on different websites that I must give three months written notice and pay the amount for that three months up front (though my contract says 2 months)? So, for example, if I gave notice the beginning of July, then I could still live in the apartment up until the end of September, which would be three months. Is that how it works?? Anyways, if anyone works in this field or has any experience with what the laws are, please let me know.
