Colombian Food (Bogotá)

Curious to hear what y'all think of Colombian food. I absolutely love it and during my 30 year absence from Colombia craved it (unfortunately there was only one mediocre Colombian restaurant in VA). I'm half Colombian and biased but I've heard some expats say the food here sucks and lacks flavor.

Just recently I was eating a tamal with my Gringa german Irish wife and I asked her if she genuinely like the tamal and other Colombian food. She said yes but some foods took getting used to. Interesting to note that when we first dated she told me that she knew what Colombian food was like because she grew up in California which has lots of Mexican food. I had to prove to her that Colombian arepas and tamales were very different than the Mexican versions
