Job British Embassy (Bogotá)

The British Embassy invites applications for the above full-time position. The successful candidates will be British citizens or citizens of Australia, Canada, New Zealand or the United States and will need to successfully complete UK security clearance procedures before commencing employment. Applicants must declare their nationality (or nationalities) with their application and provide a copy of their bio data page from their passport (or passports). The Entry Clearance Manager is the head of the visa section. The main duties for this position include: • Provide leadership, support and oversight of the visa application business in Bogota. • Manage resources and organise procedures to ensure that visa applications, appeals and correspondence are processed to a high standard, reflecting a balanced view of risk and within published target times. • Manage these resources proactively to ensure an effective response to changing demands and priorities, including by active change management. • Motivate and support the visa team through effective line management, by providing practical guidance and clear goals and ensuring regular constructive dialogue and open communication. • Promote and uphold high professional standards, endorsed by personal example, and encourage individual responsibility for maintaining the overall professionalism and integrity of the Visa Section. • Ensure that all management control checks are carried out within the guidelines prescribed by the Operating Standards and Instruction. • Ensure effective liaison with partners at post and external stakeholders.

Successful applicants will have the following qualities and skills: • Ability to work quickly, efficiently and methodically as part of a team often under pressure. • Previous experience of managing and developing staff through a period of change is essential. • Proven leadership skills through all situations. • Strong communication skills, both oral and written, are essential. • Previous track record of showing professionalism through all situations. • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. • Previous experience and/ or knowledge of the UK's immigration legislation and operations would be advantageous. • Strong Spanish language skills would be advantageous. • Satisfactory IT and typing skills are essential. The competences required for this position are: - Managing and Developing Staff - Managing External Relationships - Delivering Results - Problem Solving and Judgment - Strategic Awareness The Embassy will offer an open ended labour contract. Even though these are full time positions, the net working hours are only 35 per week which will allow the selected candidates to have a work-life balance. Salary will be COL$ 8.500.000 negotiable per month dependant on experience and qualifications.
