Moving to Bogata (Bogotá)

Hi all,

My wife and I might be moving to Bogata in the next few months. I was wondering how hard it is to get around if you don't speak Spanish? Is it common for Colombians to speak a little English? If I went to a store to buy food, etc. would there be cashiers that could understand English? Same with police, would they be able to understand me if I spoke English? I will learn Spanish when we get there, but just wanted to get an idea.
