Moving to Colombia - Bogotá

Hola to all,
Just wanted to know some advice from you about Bogotá. I received a job offer and just wanted to know if its a nice and safe place to live? I think in case I accept the offer it will be in the north og Bogotá, so I do I do tho find in the beggining a cheap place to sleep.
