In town for a couple of weeks; what's going on? (Bologna)

I'm visiting Bologna from the US. I'm on a sort of extended working vacation. I'm a software programmer, so as long as I have my laptop I can get work done for my clients. A friend is letting me stay in his apartment in Pianora for a few weeks (until the 21st).

So what's going on here? I don't speak Italian, so going out by myself to bars is tricky, although not impossible. I'm also not much of a bar-fly. Anyone up for running, hiking, sight-seeing, bike riding, etc.?
