If you want to under­stand what has been hap­pen­ing in Syria for the past five years, you have to look beyond the news head­lines and lis­ten to Syr­i­ans. That’s why we picked as the first book “Innenan­sichten aus Syria”, a col­lec­tion of texts by Syr­ian authors, edited and trans­lated by Larissa Ben­der.

We are thrilled to have Larissa Ben­der par­tic­i­pat­ing in the first book club meet-up on April 6 at Bonn’s pub­lic library. Two dif­fer­ent sto­ries by Kahled Kahlifa and Nihad Siris will be read at the meet­ing (alter­nat­ing in Ara­bic and Ger­man) fol­lowed by a dis­cus­sion (in Ger­man, Eng­lish and Ara­bic).

The read­ing is the launch meet­ing of the multi-lingual Bon­nec­tions book club, ini­ti­ated by refugees and vol­un­teers for inter­cul­tural exchange and shar­ing of sto­ries and ideas.
