Everybody is warmly welcome, women and men, young and old, refugees, new and old Bonners. If people are interested, this could lead to a regular Dabke dance group.
Dabke is a popular folk dance (line dance) in the Middle East. In the workshop, Syrian refugees will teach the basic Dabke steps to locals. In exchange, volunteers will show the choreography to the OneBillionRising song “Break the Chain”. The idea is to get to know each other, have fun and participate and rise together on Feb. 14 for peace and equality and against violence and discrimination of all kind.
OneBillionRising is a global campaign to end violence against women and girls, initiated by V-Day ( Protected content ) to raise awareness that one in three women on the planet will be raped or beaten during her lifetime, according to the United Nations.
