British, living in France marrying Serbian lady (Bordeaux)

I am hoping someone can help us. Paperwork s a nightmare in France.

I am British, living in France the past 9 years. Self employed so paying charges etc etc.

I am marrying my Serbian fiancé in 3 weeks time. We have both provided all the paperwork, all translated and it is all in order. The marriage is being performed by our local Marie here in France.

So no problems getting married. Once married my wife will live in France permanently. Does anyone know the right procedure for this to happen?

The French embassy in Belgrade have advised us to do the paperwork through the Prefecture in our department. However our Marie has contacted the Prefecture and they have said we have to go through the French embassy in Belgrade!!
