The Artist

Christiane Klonz, the concert pianist and composer, who lives in a small village beside Plauer Lake (Mecklenburg-Vorpommern), began learning the piano at Parchim Music School. She continued her training at the Rudolf Wagner-Régeny Conservatoire in Rostock under music director Walther Heinecke-Oertel and Prof. Karl-Heinz Will, and later at the Hanns Eichler Academy of Music in Berlin under Prof. Jürgen Schröder. She completed her study with an outstanding result in the concert examination.

She also acquired inspiration for the further development of her versatile musical talents through participation in various master classes and consultations, e.g. with Prof. Justus Franz (Hamburg), Prof. Walter Blankenheim (Saarbrücken), Prof. Amadeus Webersinke (Dresden) and Prof. Karl-Heinz Kämmerling (Hannover). In Protected content , Christiane Klonz was awarded a diploma in the Robert Schumann Competition in Zwickau, and in Protected content Gold Medal. In Protected content , she was awarded a one-year artist’s scholarship by the Konrad Adenauer Foundation, being the first pianist to receive this distinction. For her commitment and creative contribution to the cultural scene, Ms. Klonz was awarded the “ Protected content and Culture Prize of the Rural District of Parchim”. In September Protected content , Christiane Klonz was named as “Steinway Art-ist”.

CD recordings of works of Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, Schumann, Grieg, Chopin, Liszt and Shostakovich evidence her ability to give convincing interpretations of works of different ages and styles. As well as her memorable interpretations of major piano works, Christiane Klonz’s creative gifts also manifest themselves in her own compositions.

She has been commissioned by SFB and DeutschlandRadio Berlin for radio recordings, and also for television recordings on the ARD and NDR channels. Since Protected content , various broadcasts of her playing have been heard on many different German radio stations: NDRkultur, MDR Figaro, RBB Kulturradio, hr-klassik, hr2kultur, SWR2, SR2 Kultur, Bayern4 Klassik, KlassikRadio and NordwestRadio (Bremen). There it was stated, for instance, on 7 October Protected content “... an outstanding pianist. ... [she offers] a broad range from Classical to Romantic ... Histrionics are not her thing; instead she is a highly serious interpreter and a truly competent musician. ... Christiane Klonz – a name to note.”

She not only appears in Germany; so far, Ms. Klonz has also demonstrated her enormous virtuosity, her brilliant technique and the passion and sensitivity of her playing in Austria, Poland, Hungary, Bulgaria, Russia, North Korea and Cyprus. Nor does she only give solo concerts, but has also appeared, for instance, with the Berlin Symphony Orchestra, the Neubrandenburg Philharmonia and the New Elbland Philharmonia. In Protected content , for her brilliant and vivid interpretation of Richard Strauss’ “Burlesque for Piano and Orchestra” in the Ber-olina Concert of the Berlin Symphony Orchestra in the Berlin Schauspielhaus, she won the acclaim of the professionals and public alike. As part of the special “Philharmonic Swing” concerts, Ms. Klonz played with the New Elbland Phil-harmonia in Saxony in Protected content . Her performances of George Gershwin’s Variations on “I got rhythm” and Richard Addinsell’s “Warsaw Concerto”, which met with rapturous applause from the audience, show that she also has complete mastery of this specific genre.

Since March Protected content , Christiane Klonz has also been a teacher at the Hanns Eichler Academy of Music in Berlin.
