visiting Boston from Milan

I'm an Internation member from Milan; I'll be visiting Boston from Aug 18 to Aug 26; as I'm travelling alone I'd like to know if there are events in that period! If you have any suggestion on where to find things to do in Boston to meet new friends and socialize you are more than welcome to keep me posted!
