Safety in Brasilia and guided tours

Hello everyone!
I'm coming to Brasilia for a conference and I was wondering about safety there. It seems to me that it is safer than Rio or you would not recommend me to walk around?
To visit Brasilia is it better to take a guided tour? If yes, any recommendations?
