Expat socialising issues (Brighton)

Hi,
I am sure that most of you will disagree with me. However, I am afraid that after been living for more than two years in Brighton, I have made NO friends. Of course I met people where I work/study, but relationship are extremely superficial. Let's say, I have a couple of acquaintances.
I find this awful, especially because I lived in the US and in Belgium, too in the past. Needless to say, I never ever enconuntered so many problems in getting to know people.
I wonder if any of you would like to share his/her experiences to this regards.
