Advice Wanted: Visiting Brisbane In April

Hello from Paris ! I'll be coming to Brisbane in mi-April for a 3-day workshop and I will extend my stay for another 10 days. I would very much like to have some advice regarding places to stay (preferably with local people, B & B type accommodation), places to eat and to visit. As it is difficult for me to judge distances between towns and places of interest, it would be great if you could tell me what I can reasonably visit in 15 days (without a car, just relying on public transport).
