Where can I find... (Brisbane)

Hello Brisbane mates,

I am starting this thread for anybody that wish to ask to the community where to find something particular (or common!) around the area...

I haven't got the opportunities yet to go around so I have a lot to know and discover: I will use this thread myself again in the future!! ;-)

So my first question is: where is the closest desert??
I have seen the beaches are at reach (and good ones too : Protected content soon better than later I wish to visit a desert: what is the easiest way to reach one from Brisbane?
