Working Holiday Employment (Brisbane)

I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts or experience on attempting to secure employment in the IT industry while on working holiday. It's been my experience while I've been here the past few months that employers are not willing to hire such people on, even on a temporary basis. Any avenues or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
