Wynnum, Manly and surroundings + advice on schools (Brisbane)

Hi! We're moving from Belgium to Brisbane with our 3 children at the beginning of July and were wondering if anyone has any experience or advice on family oriented areas to live and any good primary schools? My husband is actually already working in Brisbane, and looking at the areas of Wynnum and Manly, as they seem to be family friendly and close to the sea (good beaches are not a must, but we'd like to get into sailing and boat life).
There is so much information on the internet, it's a bit overwhelming, and there's only so much "feel" one can get from the schools directory and real-estate sites, so if anyone has any comments to share or knows someone we should contact, please feel free to post it here.
