"One World" human rights festival in Brussels,

Hello,

I would like to invite you to the international human rights documentary festival that will take place in Brussels from 4 – 12 May Protected content , organized by People in Need in cooperation with the Permanent Representation of the Czech Republic to the European Union, the Czech Centre Brussels, the European Parliament and other organizations

Here is a link to the festival site: Protected content

In the Program section of the site you can find the list of films and agenda.
Most of the entries are free of charge.

One of the films that I personally would recommend to see and that is really touching and mind-changing is "Something Better to Come" by the Oscar-winning film director Hanna Polak, that will be screened on 07.05 at 18.30.

As it`s described on the mentioned Internet site:" On the outskirts of Moscow lies the Svalka, one of the largest garbage dumps in Europe. Entering and filming here is strictly forbidden. Nevertheless, the Polish director filmed the life of the local community of homeless people for 14 years. The central character of this unique time-lapse film is Yula, who has lived in the dump with her mother since she was a child. The intelligent girl sees reality without embellishment, but she expects something better from the future. When she becomes pregnant at 16, her situation seems hopeless. As in her previous acclaimed film The Children of Leningradsky, the director assembles from the footage a moving testimony about poverty and people on the edges of society."....

Hanna Polak, the director will be there for the after-film discussion. In Protected content , she completed work on The Children of Leningradsky in collaboration with HBO. The Children of Leningradsky received many awards internationally, including an Oscar nomination, an International Documentary Association Award for Best Documentary, two Emmy nominations, and the Gracie Allen Award, given by Women in Radio and Television.
