Paying rent from an overseas account (Brussels)

Hi fellow expats,

I have come across an issue in regards to paying rent on my apartment, and I am hoping I could get some advice.

I have lived in a few different countries, and have paid my rent from a Hong Kong bank account. There have never been any issues, and the arrangement has been that I pay the currency conversion fees and my bank charges to send the money, but the receiving party (the landlord) pays their bank's fees to receive the money (different banks have different rates/charges to receive money from overseas). However, my landlord here in Brussels has an issue with this, and wants me to pay their bank's fees to receive the money as well. I do not think this is fair, and the lease is silent on this specific issue.

Has anyone had this experience? Could anyone offer some advice as to what to do, or where to seek advice? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
