Saturday Cultural Marathon (this Saturday, November 15th) (Bucharest)

Dear Colleague,

As we are now approaching the middle of November and as Winter gets closer every day I am delighted to invite you to a Saturday Cultural Marathon, which will include:

1. A picture taking trip in the “Bonaparte” neighborhood of “Little Paris” Bucharest
2. A trip to Scrovishtea (monastery, lake & forest) some 30 km North from Bucharest

1. The first part of the Marathon will be performed in partnership with “Bucurestiul meu drag” (“My Dear Bucharest”) association.

We will meet on Saturday, November 15th, at 9:15 a.m, at the subway station Piata Victoriei, the exit closest to the Government building, having a functional camera (and a detailed map of the city) in hand.

In order to learn more and document with pictures the so called “Bonaparte” neighborhood we will follow (9: Protected content am) then this path:

Piata Victoriei – Str. Paris – Haga – Tokio – Londra – Varsovia – Atena – Aleea Alexandru – Pangratti – Rabat – Ankara – Sofia – Demetriade – Statuia Aviatorilor – Zambaccian – Dorobanti – Piata Victoriei

2. We will make a trip to a wonderful location called Scrovishtea, where we will find one of the last remains of ancient woods (Codrii Vlasiei) , a residence of the Romanian Kingdom (deep in the woods), a very beautiful lake and an old and very beautiful (XVth century!) painted church.

At 12:30 am we will take the subway from Piata Victoriei to Gara de Nord (Bucharest North Railway Station).

We will take then, from here, at 1.11 pm the “P Protected content train to Scrovistea. It’s a41 pleasant trip.

We will have lunch (2:30 – 3:30 pm) at Casa Enache at some 20 minutes walking distance from the station.

Afterwards we will have about 1h 30 min. to visit the middle age painted church and have a stroll on the shore of the lake facing old forest and return to the train station.

At 5:42 pm we will board in Scrovistea station the “P Protected content train to Bucharest which will reach Bucharest Basarab station at 6:32 pm.

Please take casual equipment: comfortable trekking boots, warm clothes, rain gear and a small rucksack with anything you might need during this first edition of our Saturday Cultural Marathon (e.g. bottled water, tea, a few sandwiches, a T-shirt, socks, your regular medicine—if it’s the case, mobile phone, mp3 player, map, etc.).
