Budapest visit Dec 29-Jan 2

Hi IN members in Budapest,
I'll be visiting Budapest Dec 29-Jan 2 with a friend and wondered if anyone has suggestions on places to stay. I was thinking of an apartment. What areas are nice to stay in?
Are there any parties or events for New year's eve that you can recommend?
I've been reading up on places to see (restaurants, bars, sights, etc) but any suggestions are welcome.
This is what I have so far - some more restaurant suggestions would be nice.
