Working visas for Australians (Budapest)

Hi guys
I am moving to Budapest in the next month or so and so far, after calling the Australian and Hungarian embassy the only advice I have is to come to Hungary and try to get a job and then apply for a working visa once obtaining employment. Is this right? I would really appreciate any advice, thank you.
