expat shuffle to Uruguay (Buenos Aires)

I've been in Argentina for the better part of 3 years though I return to the US for 3 months each year or have gone to Migrations twice for 90 day visa extensions or day trips to Uruguay. My last exit/entry this past December immigration officials both while leaving and re-entering Argentina hassled me a bit about these day trips although still gave me a 90 day renewal.

Is this a new problem?
