Housing? (Buenos Aires)

Hi everyone,

I hope you all had a great weekend!
i'm wondering if maybe other expats can help shed some light on something for me. I've been here for about 6 weeks now and I'm still trying to find a place to live. I lived in a hostel for a couple weeks when I first arrived, and now I have a room in a shared apartment that I thought was going to be amazing but it turns out there are a couple non-negotiable problems that I didn't know about when I moved in. So now I'm looking again...and I have never had such a frustrating time finding a place in my life! It seems like the only things available are paying in dollars (which I can't do because I am paid in pesos, and the blue dollar tourist rate isn't really affordable either when I'm paid in pesos), student type housing where there are like 8 other people living there (which isn't an option because I'm in my 30s and not in party mode so much anymore), or paying a broker fee. I'm not that picky, and I don't think I have ridiculous expectations for a place...I'm just hoping for somewhere quiet so I can work from home sometimes and a working shower. I'm starting to feel like Buenos Aires isn't very expat/non-local friendly. :-( Has anyone else experienced this? Are my expectations crazy or am I missing something here?
