Moving to Bs.As.: Shipping belongings from CA (Buenos Aires)

Hello, my name is Kaitlyn and I am finalizing my move to Buenos Aires in 2 weeks. I plan on bringing a few suitcases with me on my flight from the States, but I have a few boxes and a piece of furniture I want to ship as well. Does anyone have any experience with a West Coast based ocean freight shipping company? The shipping is not time sensitive, but I definitely want to bring these items along. I have read many horrific stories about things being held up in customs and outrageous tax fees on small non-electronic items (ex. kitchenware, home goods, clothing).

I am guesstimating this to cost ~$500 USD. Any tips or experiences would be very helpful!
