Curfews, risks and general up-to-date advice (Cairo)

Visiting Cairo for 2 weeks, with little knowledge of the city and especially the current situation. Staying in New Cairo and working in Downtown Mall area:

- What can safely be done outside the office and residence, and in what hours?

- Recommended areas and those to avoid

- Evenings out? (Are there active curfews and how does it all work?)

- Weekend life, walks, sight-seeing: where and when (safely and 'within budget' :) ?

Any tips would be much appreciated!
