New to Cairo...

Hello everyone, I am going to be moving to Cairo within the next Protected content from the UK with work. I will be working on the Fesitval City project initially. I would like some advice on the following please: Protected content good location for the accomodation, i get an allowance of $3,500 per month. Do Expats generally go for the secure compound or apartments in a nicer area? 2) Social aspect - i like to run, swim, cycle and go to the gym, i also love socialising on an evening with friends etc at a bar / club - is there many? What do people do for socialising? 3) My family will be coming to visit me, is the area ok for young and older generations or do people generally meet in the tourist resorts? 4) Cost of living - expensive / cheap / UK prices? And last but not least a general opinion of life in Cairo as an expat. Your help will be greatlyu appreciated... Many thanks
