Transportation in Cairo

Hello everyone! I will be moving to Cairo on the 16th of August for -at least- 1 year so my biggest worry is finding the right place to live. Any recommendations?? What about transportation, is it any good in the outskirts of Cairo? I will be working around this area Protected content KM Cairo-Ismailia Rd. - Cairo, Egypt is there a good network around there?
