Travelling within Egypt (Cairo)

Since arriving I've had all sorts of fun with the MFA, they like me so much they've kept my passport, I guess to look at my wonderful picture every day.
Anyway, I'd like to fly to Luxor and back to Cairo, can I do so without having my passport/visa with me, the only real ID I have is my DC driver's license.
