TV - Will an American TV work in Egypt (Cairo)

Hi all,

I am moving to Cairo this summer, I have lots of silly questions the first one being:

If i bring my American HD TV with me, will it work for local stations hooked to a cable/satellite box for local tv? Do i need to purchase a Multi-System television or a tv locally when i arrive? I do know i need to use a power convertor on it and will have one, just wanting to know if it will work after plugged in.
