Visiting with kids (Cairo)

I'm planning on a 3 week trip around Egypt and would like some suggestions. Kids are 16 and 11 but have done backpacking before so anything goes. Would like to know of any possible IN events (for me if evening) and just general information about traveling about and getting the best out of what Egypt has to offer. We'll be there from about the 19th of June. thanks.
