What to bring (Calcutta)

So I am embarking on an assignment and was wondering what to bring ?
1) As gifts for locals?... Almonds/Chocolates/ wine?
2) Barter commodities for other Expats?... wine?
3) Clothing.. Any cool weather? I would normally pack light and buy what I need there.. but I am 6'4" and wear US size 14 shoes.. so assume other than shirts, I may be out of luck with local clothing. true?

Also, If I show up at customs with a suitecase full of wine and chocolates... should I kiss half of it goodby or be prepared to buy it again in terms of duty?
