Driving license process for TFW(India) in Calgary

Hi All,

I have relocated to Calgary from India on a work permit and recently passed my learners driving theory test in Calgary.

I understand that in order to get my Calgary learners license, I need to submit a letter from the Regional Transport Office in India and my India driving license.

I have a couple of questions:

1) Can anyone please share information on how to get the letter from India and help me with the next steps of successfully apply for my Calgary drivers license.

2) I am not sure why one needs to surrender their home country drivers license especially if the person is on a 'Temporary Foreign Worker (TFW)' - work permit status. Is there a process for people on a work permit.
