Moving to Calgary from Southeast US

Hi, I am soon to be a trailing spouse on a 3-year assignment in Calgary. My partner is already working in Calgary, staying in a hotel, and we are supposed to relocate by the end of September.

It appears that the cost of living in Calgary will be up to 30% higher than where we live now (Winston-Salem, North Carolina.)

Can anyone tell me if there are particular items I may want to stock up prior to relocating?

And is it true that we have to have an itemized list of every household item and clothing item that we bring in household goods?
