How long does it take to get a permanent residency (Canberra)

Hi, I'm a South Korean. My family would have an opportunity to move in Canberra within the next several months if things work well for us. I read that it's tough to get a job as expats if you don't have residency/citizenship. Does anybody know how long it takes to get a permanent residency in Australia and how hard the process would be? We have 3 boys and my husband is Australian. Couldn't my situation make the process quicker?
