Advice - Moving to CT soon! (Cape Town)

Hi everyone!

I'm moving to Cape Town from Los Angeles in a couple of months and I am very excited. It looks unbelievably beautiful. However, lately I've been getting concerns from ex-Cape Townians about safety, specially as a woman living alone. I was wondering how valid these are. I know you have to be careful (as with any major city in the world) but some people made it sound positively scary and I'm hoping to get some other perspectives. Would love it if you all could share your experience.
