Cost of Living and Places to Live (Cape Town)

Hello
I am considering retiring in SA, the Cape Town general area. I am familiar with the cost of rent and food but am wondering about utilities - for one person -for a small house, not an apartment. Can anyone give me some information on this? Also, I would prefer to live in a rural setting but want to be close enough to Cape Town to also enjoy city activities. Any recommendations of places to consider. Hopefully an area that has public transportation to/from Cape Town - I live green! Thank you.
