My husband (born in South Africa but a lifetime spent in UK) and I are thinking of retiring to the Cape. A million good reasons- Sun, food, wine, beauty, cost of living etc. It's a risk that I'm comfortable with, but my husband, who is ethnically Chinese, remembers the bad times of his childhood and really isn't sure if it would be a wise move.
You are all on the ground, living that life and have the best sense of what's going on and how things are likely to develop. Do you think it would be a good move to buy land, build a house and settle down to get old in the Cape? Would you?
I would very much appreciate your views? Val Kwaan, presently in Dubai
