Shopping in Cape Town

Now that moving to Cape Town is getting closer and closer, I am thinking up new questions all the time. Could someone talk to me about shopping in Cape Town? What am I better off bringing from the US? My understanding is that clothing and electronics prices are very steep in South Africa. Where does one go to hunt bargains in Cape Town? We will be far from poor, but we will not be in a position to shop in luxury boutiques either (which as far as I can tell, Cape Town does not seem to lack...). I am particularly interested in clothing, electronics and toiletries because I have heard that prices on such goods there can be far, far higher than I am used to paying in the US.
