U.S. Electronics in Cape Town

Hi,

I'll be moving to Cape Town from New York in Summer Protected content . My employer will ship all of my belongings, but I'm wondering if I should bother bringing my electronics (flat screen tv's, blenders, etc.). I will have the necessary adapters and voltage converters for plugging in Items with US plugs into the walls, but I know that sometimes US TV's are not wired properly to work in other countries and that appliances with motors such as blenders sometimes do not work well even when plugged in through a voltage converter.

I can purchase new appliances in Cape Town if needed but would prefer not to if it's something I already have and will work. Any insights from others who have moved to Cape Town from the U.S.?
