Food shortages (Caracas)

Hi all

I may be coming to Venezuela for work. Can anyone tell me if there is any truth about the food shortages? Should I bring anything from Canada? Is there anything that customs will not allow through? Fresh produce is pretty standar.

Food shortages sounds contradictory as I have also heard that Caracas has some of the best restaurants in Latin America.
