Planning a trip to Valencia, CCS, Isla Margarita (Caracas)

In case anyone is reading this forum...

I lived in Venezuela about a decade ago and plan on a 10 day trip in June with a friend. I'll be flying into Valencia, then on to Caracas and Isla Margarita (and then reverse).

I was wondering what is the best way to get from Valencia to Caracas nowadays? I used to take high-end buses but I've heard it's more risky now with the security situation. Is there an airline that flies between these cities? Perhaps a private driver? I'd appreciate anyone "in the know" who can give some guidance. Thanks in advance!
