Albatross membership (Cascais)

I cancelled my membership a while ago. What I find so strange and stupid is that I get invited to events but I'm not allowed to see the venue. Now how likely is it that i'll be interested in attending an event, when I don't know where it is? Not likely. And likely is that i'll pay my Albatross membership, if I'm not interested in any events? Not likely.
Is it just me or is this crazy reasoning on Internations part?
